• didn't know his father, knew who he is but no relationship, split up with his mom when Peter was young
• mom got remarried, step father, stepsiblings, was raised catholic
• hated catholic school so much that went into the priesthood to try to destroy it from within
• told the parish people to not donate to the church but to give the money directly, gets kicked out of the church
